Who are we

We are a group of Regenerated Believers, who seek to win those that are lost and to bring discipleship to those that have been found. Our purpose is to impact them so they might impact the world for Christ. We believe this is done through our core beliefs: the Word of God, the Worship of God, and the Fellowship amongst Believers.

Church history

After serving faithfully for over 20 years, in various capacities, Elder Roosevelt Lakey Sr., heard and heeded the call to Pastor. He started Prayer House C.O.G.I.C., which held it's beginning services in the Dorsey Mortuary on Compton Boulevard, in Los Angeles, Ca. In 1977, the church moved to 79th & Hoover and united with Deacon Johnson and the members of the Christ Centered C.O.G.I.C. This was a small, yet powerful, and growing group with a mission add souls to the body of Christ. On July 2, 1978, Pastor Roosevelt Lakey, Sr. was called to rest and reward. His leadership and love for God’s people has been a testament to who the Christ Centered Church is today. In 1978, his eldest son, Larry Lakey, stepped into the role of Senior Pastor and moved the Christ Centered Church to 10525 Avalon Blvd, in Los Angeles, CA. He led with integrity for the next 30 years, and in 2009, Pastor Phillip White took on the leadership role. His vision for a regenerated church has been consistent from the beginning, and still remains today.
